This is a friend of mine who believe it or not worked for me years ago. I would ask that you vote her in if you are so inclined! She is a lovely person! Thanks for your help...

I'm waiting...

This is what greeted me when I arrived at the farm yesterday! I had actually pulled in and was changing footwear and while I was doing that, I called for Jiggs as he hay munched...I got my winter wear on and looked up...there he was! I had the giggles for Jiggles!

I guess he got impatient because by the time I got my lead, he was in the areana area looking around. I was so excited to see him! I hadn't been out all week. We got suited up so to speak and went into the arena for a play!

We are working on the standing game. Several people were in the arena playing with their horses so it was a good distraction game. We did a bit of circling then stop to stand.

Then we worked on coming to the mounting block. Standing again. Moving the hind Q over to the block. Then stand. Laying on his back. Then moved to the ground to practice the falling leaf game. We had fun!

After fun we moved to the feeding area directly to the side of the arena and he munched his herbs. He likes to observe everyone in the arena between munching! I gave him a brush and a quick hoof cleaning. Didn't get the oils on him though.

We backed out of the arena and he did very well. He is learning to trust my judgement for him moving back. He was so excited to get out to the herd ( they had been on the move for awhile by then) that he almost took me with him! Good thing I had the 22ft lead on him. I stoped him and brought him back. Teaching him to allow me to get his halter off before he decides to go frolic with it on in the herd.

He bolted so fast and mad a magnificent jump over a trench full of water made by the tractor tires when brining hay to the field. I have never seen that horse jump like that! Hmmmm and all this time he's been manipulating NOT jumping in the arena...hmmmmm!

See you later my sweetie! Luv to you...Pretty lashes

My boy Rocks!

Jiggies
Click the pic!

We had so much fun today. I got to the barn around 7:30 this morning and 8 horses including Jiggies were all the way down at the bottom of the pasture eating. Picking at the slim pickens down there. Those little sprigs don't have a chance!

I yelled for Jiggies as I always do, "Hey Handsome"...bam his head flys up and then they all balls out run up to the fence! It was a magnificent sight. They are so cool.

Jiggies couldn't wait to get out. We played at liberty in the arena for about an hour. He did well with everything. The circle game needs a bit of help...tudumpdadump tudumpdadump...slow and slower...

Then we went on to the round pen for 15' or so. Then we decided to take a walk to the front of the farm. He doesn't go out there very often so he was alert. He actually did well. Plus I thought it would be good therapy for his hooves.

He munched out front for about 20 min. Poor sprigs! They won't see the light of day with Jiggies around. After that we went to the back at the arena and had a grooming session. I got more hair off and scratched him all around. We did some hoof care (I was right the walk did wonders) and coronet therapy with the oils. He really liked it.

After munching his herbs we played by the log and over the ramp and on the tire. He was ready for a nap by then. After 3 hours of playing zzzz's were setting in. He was a sleepy guy. Several of the horses in the pasture were laying out! So I am sure Jiggies will follow.

Have the best Monday my buddy. I'll see you in a couple of days.

A blade of grass?? I'm there!!!!

That was the evening with Jiggies. The nut was attacking the green. As if he needs any more!
But I did let him have a little then we groomed up. Got loads of Jiggie hair off and he looks pristine! He did a really good job at the ground tie and with my cleaning his feet. We threw some Thieves on and he was good to go! I also put some Helichrysum on the old hoof injury. I am going to put Myrrh on it tommarrow. Just to get some flex in the rough.

I was able to do some light sanding on them as well. He stood really nice for me.

He even attempted the mounting block. But he is going backwards as I try to lean on him. So back we went! I was finally able to kind of bounce as a pretend to mounting. He went back, I helped him. Went forward, Circle we did! Little turkey! But we had a really good time. Then he munched his herbs! I oiled him up and backed him into the paddock and he went to munch some more! See you in the morning sweetpea! I love you buddy!

What a Day!!!

It is Tuesday, March 18th! 74 degrees! A record high! Jiggies was relaxing in the sunshine munching away at 4pm! I went out to the pasture with him and munched away with him. Quite curious he became! Silly thing. We went into the arena because it was wicked windy. We played for about an hour and a half. Watched April ride for a bit then he enjoyed his munchies. I filed his hooves a bit and we played the "time to get up on you" game off the mounting block. Yeah, no he says NOT! I'll go backwards! Goofy! We did this on and off for about 15 min as not to sour him. Then I oiled him up and he set out for the hay! The barn hands just had set out fresh hay before I got there. It was a warm beautiful day to play. See you in a few days buddy. I love you sooooo.

Sunny, Sunny, Sunny!!!!!

What an awesome spring day!!! Well, almost Spring. Another week it will be officially SPRING!!!! The lesson today, LAYING ON THE HORSE! All the horses were down at the bottom of the pasture when I arrived! I thought to myself uhggg! I don't want to walk a mile and get Jiggies! So I yelled to him and the moment I did his head popped up. I started seeing the see-saw walk on in! Yay!!! I was excited. Almost here...
About 5 minutes later after munching a bit and driving a few of the friends around...closer!

I was estatic. We haltered up and in to the arena for a warm-up. We played "lay on the horse by the mounting steps". He did great. I was able to lay accross him and love him while he turned and tried to nibble me! I slid off comfortably a couple of times as he walked away, but the third was right on my butt bone! No worries. I got up and loved him! After our play it was time for a quick brush and a HAIRCUT! Spring grooming you know...Awww ma I look stupid and they're all goona laugh at me!!! NEVER!!!!!
They will all be jelous!

We have also been working with "not attacking mom when I bring the munchy bucket out" game. I was actually able to prepare his grain with the supps while he waited! He only tried to come close to it a couple of times. He did really well and woofed it down! He loves his Wolfberries and apple!

After loads of love I had to run to Mike Boso's for an audit of a playday! I hated to leave! Uh...maybe he hated me to leave?? I can wish right??? Thanks buddy. See you later! I luv you soooooo!

It's raining and raining and...

Our 3rd Parelli Workshop was today. I arrived around 12:50 and was hoping I wouldn't need to go in the vast amount of mud and get the boy! I lucked out! He was interested enough to come to the fence and we happily went into the arena.

We immediatly started having a great time. This was the 4 phases with 12 & 22ft ropes. Jiggies did outstanding! I felt like we were really partners. I tried all kinds of games and progressing thru the phases. I rarely needed to go more than Ph2! He did great with the sideways game, extreem friendly from Z5 too! We had a bit of a time with the circling game. That seems to be the weakest for us. I really need to work on that more. He likes it better outside. He loved playing with the hoola hoop and picking up the cone and waving it around. We worked on the porcupine front, back side. He really did great. Then we worked on the lifting of the hoof with the string. Did awesome! Finally the best, he walked up the the mounting block and popped right over for me to lay on him and love him. He was most definitly in a LB playing mood today! Hurray!!!!!

Oh yeah, the ultimate was when Deb was working with Mary's horse Red on the circling game, Jiggies and I were playing yo yo back and forth and working on the standing. He was about 3ft from me looking right at me when Red got away from Deb and sqeezed between Jiggs and the wall. Jiggies acknowleged him but never moved. Then he turned back to look at me! Didn't do one Right brained thing! The whole arena was quite impressed with Jiggies behaviour. I was so happy for us! We have also been working on "the stand" having him be more confident with me to not feel he needs to move. I almost cried with excitement. It was all I could do not to run up and hug him to death!

Finally everyone was gone and we proceeded with his grain and herbs. The barn hands began to lay hay and Jiggies decided going right was the thing to do! He ran back and forth and wouldn't finish his goodies. But I popped his halter and lead on and we did some backing and back and forth moves to get him more Left. It didn't help that the rain was pounding on the roof which can make a deafening sound. That only lasted about 10 min but it was enought that compounded with the laying of hay in which he wasn't out to supervise, was right brained disaster! But it was all good. We worked camly and well together. He is really coming around to trust me as a leader.

All in all I can say this day will be a 5 star!!! Thanks buddy. I love you...

Love me, Love my Brush!

Yep, big grooming day for Jiggies on Wed evening! Monday I went out to play and it was so dark I couldn't see a thing. I called and called but no avail! I ended up raking poop in hopes that he would get curious and investigate the flying poop! Not interested. Can't say I blame him.

But Wed, I got out of work, got to the farm around 4:15 bright sunny! A bit cold but ok with a couple of sweatshirts. Except I didn't think about the HAIR FACTOR! Yikes! The shedding begins!

It's all good because they know spring is not far away! Jiggies and I played in the pasture while he ate some freshly thrown hay. Then we went into the arena we were all alone. It was awesome.

I set up the arena and he just followed me around. There were many birds nests up in the rafters so there was alot of chirping going on. Very cool chirps. I hadn't heard some of them before. I don't know what kind of birds were up there. Then we did our games, we did all kinds. He stepped right up to the side of the mounting steps and I just layed on him and loved him. We had fun.

We then stepped into the small area where I usually feed him his herbs. He patiently waited for me to combine his goodies and chowed down! I oiled him up and started the grooming process! I think I had more hair on me than he did! Oiled up his hooves combed out his mane. He looked very handsome! 4 hours we spent together.

I was so serene when I left the barn. He was happy to go out and show off his new sleek look! I love you buddy. I will see you in a couple of days!

About Me

My photo
Genoa, Illinois, United States
I am a southern girl who moved north right out of highschool. Born and raised in Fla, couldn't take the intense heat. I moved to Massachussetts and loved New England. From there I moved to the Midwest when my boys were small. Here I have made a great life with my special boys. I have a great job, friends and as of a few years ago a terrific husband. I love life. My boys are grown now and off in college. It is a quiet satisfaction that these boys helped me thru some hard times and they are well rounded happy adults. I am truely blessed. I also have an extensive pet list! I love animals as well! I bought my boy in 2000 after I was laid off at my job. Best thing I ever did! I have been working Parelli with him since about 2001 but more dilligently in the last 6 months. He introduced me to the wonderful world of oils when he split his back hoof almost off! I now work holistic with all my animals. I am a Reiki Master Teacher (energetic healing) and work with some herbs as well for whole health of the animal (and humans)! It is truely a fabulous journey he is taking me on...
